Percentage – The right definition of success?

‘What do you mean by cut off percentage?’

I drew a deep breath in and rattled off the entire idea to the elder one.

‘So, above 90 is not good enough?’

I was stumped. Here was a system that screamed from the front page of the newspaper that every additional score mattered right down to the second decimal place. It calculated a person’s worth based on his or her position relative to the cut-off percentage. It posited that nothing else mattered – the likes, the passions – if it cannot be marked, it doesn’t exist.
